Music theory is a must for anyone who makes music. And it does not matter if you are a vocalist, guitarist or a drummer. Everyone who plays any instrument, sings, or composes songs is required to know the basics.
In the Music Theory course at School of Music, we’ll cover all the basics of music theory from A to Z. They will give you the necessary knowledge base that every musician should have.
The Music Theory course takes six months to complete. It includes the most essential elementary knowledge of music theory.
The curriculum is tailored individually, depending on your training and goals.

IN THE MUSIC THEORY COURSE YOU WILL LEARN:

THE NAMES AND DESIGNATIONS OF SOUNDS
Includes introduction to notes, their arrangement on the stave, violin and bass keys, octave names, the concepts of tone and semitone, and the signs of alteration.

NOTE WRITING.
It is acquaintance with lengths of notes and their recording on the stave, with pauses, with additional signs of duration of sounds and with the signs of abbreviation of musical notation.

METER AND RHYTHM.
We will study the basic (even) division of durations, special kinds of division of durations, simple, complex and variable sizes, syncope.

INTERVALS .
A topic that includes the study of simple and compound intervals, the step and tone value of intervals, the reversal of intervals, the difference between consonant and dissonant intervals, and the enharmonism of intervals.

HARMONY AND TONALITY.
Let’s get acquainted with major and minor harmonies and their tonalities, types of minor, and the quint circle.

SOLFEGGING
Practical application of the acquired knowledge on simple one-voice pieces, as well as testing and consolidation of the material throughout the course in the form of a control test of 24 control questions.
